The Education and Academia Stakeholder Group (EASG) has submitted its response to the Zero Draft of the 2025 HLPF Ministerial Declaration.
While we welcome the draft’s focus on science, evidence-based solutions, and human rights, we raise concerns about its narrow view of education and the lack of recognition for student rights and higher education.
We emphasize that:
Student rights are human rights
Education must be more than just skills training
Higher education and research require protection and support
Public education is essential to democratic and sustainable societies
