Major Groups and Other Stakeholders (MGoS) have submitted a joint contribution to the Informal Ad Hoc Working Group on the Mandate Implementation Review under Workstream 2 of the UN80 Initiative. The submission highlights the importance of ensuring that UN mandates remain transparent, accountable, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of marginalized and underrepresented communities.
The contribution calls for stronger civil society participation in mandate design and review processes, greater accessibility and budget transparency, improved monitoring and evaluation systems, and safeguards to ensure that reforms do not weaken critical mandates linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.
MGoS also emphasizes the importance of protecting civic space and recognizing civil society as equal partners in shaping global governance processes.
The submission was endorsed by 21 Major Groups and Stakeholder Groups from across regions and constituencies.
