As the international community prepares for the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the Major Groups and Other Stakeholders Coordination Mechanism (MGoS CM) is convening a critical side event at HLPF 2025: From Silos to Solidarity – Reshaping Multilateralism for a Fairer Future.

This session will spotlight the urgent need for policy coherence across global processes, especially those tackling climate change, gender equality, and health equity. With global governance under pressure from financial strain, institutional reform, and growing isolationism, it is more vital than ever to align the outcomes of major multilateral milestones such as the SDG Summit, the Summit of the Future, the COPs, CSW and Beijing+30, and the upcoming World Social Summit.

Through high-level reflections and grounded case studies, the session will examine how inclusive, integrated approaches at the local, national, and global levels can help drive systems change. Speakers include:

  • Guy Ryder, UN Under-Secretary-General for Policy

  • Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary, Germany

  • Susan Brown, Assistant Secretary-General, UNDP

  • Civil society leaders from across MGoS, including representatives from the Women’s Major Group, Major Group for Children and Youth, and Stakeholder Group of Communities Discriminated on Work & Descent.

Join us as we explore how multilateralism can evolve, moving from fragmented silos to coherent, inclusive, and accountable frameworks that leave no one behind.
