After 18 months of negotiations, the Pact for the Future was adopted during the United Nations General Assembly, marking a milestone in global cooperation. Despite last-minute amendment proposals from a few countries, the Pact was adopted by consensus, with its annexes—the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations—also approved.
The Pact for the Future outlines 56 Actions, focusing on critical areas such as sustainable development, international peace and security, science and technology, youth and future generations, and transforming global governance. However, the Volunteers Stakeholder Group has raised concerns about several gaps in the document, particularly in relation to civil society, accountability, and peacebuilding.
